This versatile, free-standing teak shelving unit can be placed in the center of a room to serve as a room divider or positioned against a wall as a traditional shelving unit. While the designer remains unidentified, we believe it could be a design by Bengt Ruda, the first professional designer hired by Ikea in 1956. Before that, Ruda worked for Nordiska Kompaniet (NK), where he designed the 'Trivia' series, among other notable pieces. Distinctive design elements associated with Ruda include black lacquered compass legs with brass disc fittings. We have found similar designs by Ruda featuring slightly tapered cabinets and the same key element used in this piece. Additionally, another listing in France claimed that this same design was purchased new from NK in 1960.
